Another recipe from my drafts finally makes its appearance today. I had tried it many months ago but simply didn’t get around to writing down the recipe and editing the pictures. I generally do these things as soon as I wrap up the photo shoot as I hate to forget how I made the dish (the minor changes to the recipe I mean). So, this recipe was part of the booklet that I got along with the Philips Airfryer and I just tweaked it a little bit to suit our taste. Till the time I made these I wasn’t so adventurous with trying out new recipes in the Airfryer. It has been a saviour when it comes to quickly frying kebabs and meatballs but I didn’t go beyond that comfort zone. I have a few recipes in mind that I want to try out but somehow don’t get around to doing that.
Coming back to this recipe, these drumsticks make for a perfect option for an appetizer for a small party. If you are expecting a small bunch of people for lunch or dinner and want to make something quick and easy in your airfryer, this should be your go to recipe. You don’t have a party and still want to make it? Be my guest. Serve these to little ones, especially fans of chicken drumsticks – you know that little kid who will happily hold a drumstick and munch on it all day? Depending on your audience feel free to adjust the spice level. You may want to make them nice and spicy if you are serving this to adults but try to tone down the spice and make the marinade slightly sweet if you want to entertain your little munchkins.
Do leave the skin on as it gives a nice glaze and juiciness to the chicken, not to forget the gorgeous golden brown colour that enhances the appearance. However, if you are health conscious you may use skinless drumsticks too.

What would the process if one was using the oven instead of an air fryer?
Shireen Sequeira says
I haven’t tried this recipe in an oven. However, you can bake it at 200 degrees C for 12 minutes, flip and bake for another 8-10 minutes.

Hi Shireen,
I’m so grateful for this recipe. I have an air fryer that’s sitting in my kitchen which I haven’t used because I wasn’t sure what to try out. The drumsticks you’ve cooked look great. I’m sure they taste great too. Would love to see more air fryer recipes from you.

Receipe looks great and simple but I don’t have mustard paste, I do not buy as I use once and then have no idea in what receipes to use it lies in the fridge and then in the dustbin. And suggestions how to make for moments when the paste is not available at that moment.
Shireen Sequeira says
You can freeze the mustard paste in an ice cube tray and use as required or completely eliminate it in this recipe. Unfortunately I haven’t tried it with an alternative
