Tried my hand at another healthy breakfast option by Tarla Dalal. I have decided to try at least 90% of the recipes from each book I own (this will help me slow down a bit when it comes to purchasing cook books at random!). Maybe I should dedicate 2011 to healthy cooking. I have indulged the whole of Jan in cooking/eating out lip smacking delicious (but not importantly healthy) food. The effect has already begun to form on my waistline & cheeks :-(. Maybe the festivities are the culprit (or just a lame excuse). Now on, I am back to eating home cooked, nutritious meals starting with power packed breakfasts. This particular recipe was always ignored cuz I dont really like my breakfasts to start on a sweet note, but it’s worth a try. The outcome wasnt as sweet as I expected. I am going to try this sometime soon.

You must May! Its a lot like the govanche pole which they make in Mlore, so wont say its the best tasting dosa, but is very healthy (if u skip the sugar). Definitely a breakfast option to be tried once in a way

LOL! Ruchik sounds good too! Did someone really call you Ruchik? Haha!!
Shireen Sequeira says
@ Matilda Lobo: Yes, I get mails all the time addressing me as 'Ruchik'! Hence the note ๐

Lovely recipe Shireen… A quick q… how would it be if there is any other ingredient tht we can add instead of oatmeal..
Shireen Sequeira says
Hi Rashmi, you can definitely use any other ingredient you wish. Maybe soya flour or ragi flour? You could even add grated cucumber or carrots. Ofcourse, the taste will be totally different from this recipe but its worth a try! Go creative I say! ๐

Hi Shireen,
That looks great.Do you think I can use self raising wheat flour and skip the fruit salt?

Tried and loved by kids – too good
Shireen Sequeira says
@ Vijaya: You can definitely try using self raising wheat flour although I have not used it. The fruit salt is to help raise the batter quickly.
@ Vanita: Thanks so much! Glad you liked it ๐
